I read somewhere that the work most personal to you is the work that people will be most interested in.
Personally, I think that it makes sense to create something that I can connect with, and enjoy making.

My fascination with domestic items is particularly highlighted. Objects, such as tiny chairs, quietly
represent people and places which are missing from my life. Or is it me who has gone missing? The idea
of ‘home’ is pivotal to my work- far away from home I miss mum’s home-cooking!

All the tiny forks I have made this year probably afford enough material to make a real-sized one. The
comfort of home is always emphasised.

My body of work also reflects the relationship I have with my family and a special retreat in the
countryside of Iceland we go to every summer. The connection I have with this place and the
significance it has assumed in my life are represented through the use of driftwood and fish skin in my work.

The closeness to nature and its secluded location, far away from the outside world, make it a profoundly
stimulating place I return to whenever I seek inspiration. My jewellery and personal portfolio are
connected through the use of colour and subject matter.

The repeated re-occurrence of certain colour and shapes in both areas of study was not intentional, but
developed naturally as these are the subject matters that grab my attention, and it seems honest to
pursue the things I am most interested in.
